Welcome to Trinidad and Las Animas County . . .
We're Open for Business!
Trinidad, Colorado is a burgeoning community, boasting a rich history, vibrant culture, and a down home friendly atmosphere.
Trinidad was established in 1876, as part of the Colorado Territory. Shortly after, in 1881, the Trinidad & Las Animas County Chamber of Commerce was established to serve and support–not only the local merchants, but the community as a whole.
The Chamber has served the community and its merchants faithfully through both the good times and bad.
We have seen a number of changes in the economic face of the area. Trinidad was once a stop for the large cattle herds on the Historic Santa Fe Trail. It also boasted a large coal industry and is part of the one of the nations largest Natural Gas basins.

Throughout all
of these changes, we have long supported our local farmers and ranchers, as they are the ones who provide this continually growing
area with the food and products which sustain our way of life.
Trinidad & Las Animas County have become home to many new and established industries, and is a distribution point for some well known distribution companies, freight carriers and manufacturers. Also many small businesses have chosen to make this their home, for many reasons. Cost of living is one of the lowest in the state, taxes are at a minimum, and we do have many other amenities that you might find in the bigger cities, without the hassle. We also boast one of the foremost Junior Colleges in the state, with an eye towards vocation specific training for students of all ages and backgrounds.
The Trinidad, Colorado area has also become an attractive destination for tourists and retiring boomers, as well as those with location neutral jobs. The unsurpassed beauty of the area, with the delicate balance of both mountains and plains, has brought many people to this little piece of paradise.
We invite you to visit our downtown shops, fine dining restaurants, and then take a drive around town to see the beautiful homes from the various eras of our rich history. Stop in, meet the people of Trinidad & Las Animas County, and revel in the peace and beauty our town has to offer.
